Music Genre

For our A2 Level coursework, we have been given the task of creating a promotional package for the release of an album and also to include a music promo video. Alongside the following additional tasks; creating a cover for its release on CD and a magazine advertisement for the CD. The main focus of the task is the creation of the music video, therefore, an important factor in our planning was to choose the genre of the video.


After thoroughly investigating music videos and promotional packages from a range of different genres, our group decided to focus our coursework on the indie/pop/rock genre. We thought this was an appropriate genre as many of the videos were fairly upbeat, recent and quirky. By choosing this genre, it enables us to be more creative with our choices throughout the coursework and helps us to create a more exciting music video. The particular genre we have chosen is fairly modern so therefore by utilising this genre it helps us to appeal to a more modern audience.
